Ode to Green Day

In honor of the much awaited new release of Green Day’s new cd 21st Century Breakdown, I would like to talk a little bit about this awesome band. Now I know they are more punkish than most bands that fit under the alternative genre, but these guys are a big part of it as well.
Just about everyone that knows Green Day knows that Dookie is the record that made them famous. 1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours
and Kerplunk
were two records that came out before it.
After Dookie, there were three albums that came out within the next six years following it. They weren’t nearly as big successes as Dookie, but they did do well. These albums were Insomniac, Nimrod , and Warning .
From there they took a few years off for a much needed break. They came back on the scene in 2004 with their new album American Idiot. This record was a bit different than their previous ones, but it connected Green Day with the newer generation of music lovers pretty well.
Five years later and here they are again with their new release. Since making it big, they have won a few awards and they have been noted to be influential to several bands too. There is no denying these guys have a similar sound throughout their entire song list, which isn’t always a bad thing. You’re always going to know what you’re going to get music wise with Green Day. You gotta love these guys and their high energy!
