Alternative Music Blog Has Returned!

After an incredibly long MIA, I have finally been able to return to my blog!  So much has happened in music while I’ve been gone.  Let me comment on a couple before moving on to newer topics.

I am so very sad about Fall Out Boy’s amicable breakup.  They made beautiful music together, and I hope to hear them in the future in some sort of capacity.  From the sounds of it they aren’t saying it would be impossible for some sort of reunion someday, but even solo or moved on elsewhere would be super.

As far as this whole Alice in Chains thing goes I’m very torn.  I absolutely love love LOVE the old AIC with of course Layne Staley as the lead singer.  Yes, I am aware that he is no longer living and the band may want to continue working together without him.  I’ve heard them, not loving it so much.  Now you probably think this may be because I’m biased.  This may very well be the case.  I don’t like that they tried to find someone who sort of tries to sing like Layne did, almost as if they were maybe just hoping people wouldn’t notice.  No one can replace Layne, and to me it’s almost like comparing it to like if Nirvana just moved on without Kurt.  While I personally don’t like it, in the end it’s not up to me.  There are many people that think the new AIC rocks.  I won’t be going out of my way to see these guys in concert, or buy their music for now,but maybe someday they will put something out that’s so awesome I will change my mind.

With that out of the way I have something else I would like to address.  I would like to say thanks to all of the emails I received while on hiatus myself.  Many awesome bands sent me some of their music to check out, and although late in getting them, I did eventually get to listen to most of it.  There are a few bands that really struck my interest all for different reasons.  I’ll be covering some of these bands over the next couple of weeks so be on the lookout!
