Alternative Music A-Z, the C-list
23rd July, 2009 - Posted by -
It’s time for the C-list! I must apologize for the long break I took from my blogging, summer vacation waits for no one! Now that I am back, I’m ready to start cranking out my blogs again.
Okay, as for the C-list where do I start…
There are so many great bands and artists that begin with the letter C. Here are some of my all time favorites.
1. Candlebox is another one of those bands that started out with a different name. They were originally Uncle Luke, but did not become famous until after they had already done their name change. Kevin Martin has an awesome voice, and they have so far come up with some pretty great songs…can’t wait to see what they come up with for their next album!
2. This is what I refer to as my “cold patch” which consists of three bands that have the word cold in them. Cold, Cold War Kids
, and Coldplay
all have very unique music. I love listening to all three of these bands.
3. Next is my mini food group C-list. Cake and Cracker
are completely different from each other, but they are both talented.
4. Collective Soul is next on my list. These guys have been around since the early 90’s, and always produce some sweet tunes.
5. Counting Crows was formed in 1991. Their lead singer Adam Duritz has an amazing voice, and they have produced many a hit in their time so far.
6. Crossfade might very well be one of my favorites of the C-list. They’ve been around since 1999, started out as a trio called The Nothing, as well as being known as Sugardaddy Superstar. I absolutely can not wait until they release their next album…I have yet to hear a bad song from these guys.
7. My final band on this list is Catherine Wheel. They were pretty much only active from 1990-2000, but in that time they came up with some kick ass music. The first time I heard “Waydown” as a kid I knew I was hooked. They’re known for their song “Black Metallic” as well.
I would also like to have a mini list of “shout outs” to add to my C-list. These are bands that use to or still do rock.
- Crash Test Dummies
- Creed
- Concrete Blonde
- Coheed and Cambria
- and finally, Cornershop (”Brimful of Asha” was one awesome song!)
Stay tuned for the D-list, coming your way soon!
