Continuing on with my best of A to Z alternative music list, it’s time for the B-list! Over the years there have been many awesome bands that begin with the letter B. Here are some of my absolute favorites.
There are really two bands that begin with B that are my most favs and after trying to choose only one, I decided there is just no way. These two bands are Bush
and Beastie Boys
. Both of these bands are very different but they are equally great. I have so many memories of listening to both of these groups growing up. Bush was more of a grunge alternative group, and Beastie Boys cover everything from alternative to hip hop.
Bad Religion
has been around since 1980. These guys are more on the punkish side, and boy can they rock. They made their rise to fame around 1993, although we all know you don’t have to be famous to make great music.
Breaking Benjamin
is a band that formed in 1998. Their music has made it into video games as well as movies. This band has produced some seriously awesome tunes over the years and I hope they continue to do so.
Beck
is an artist that has been a part of the alternative genre for over 20 years. He is one of those artists that you either think is a genius or totally crazy. I love his music, it’s so original and you never know what you’re going to get!
Better Than Ezra
struck it big in 1995 with their song “Good” and had many great songs after. The band just released their latest studio album in 2009.
Blind Melon
is a band that will forever be associated with the “Bee Girl” video. The song was “No Rain” and it greatly helped with the bands commercial success. In 1995, the lead vocalist Shannon Hoon was found dead on their tour bus. The band was dormant until the year 2006 when they found a new lead singer.

Bush, the Beastie’s, Beck and Blind Melon are all great ones. Here are some others that I like Band of Horses, Black Keys, Big Audio Dynamite, Blind Pilot, Breeders, Bon Iver and Bright Eyes.
